CLEVERSCAN / KNOWLEDGE & PRACTICE

Inspection becomes a data basis

Why information content per structure can matter more than pure daily throughput.

Inspection becomes a data basis

CleverScan is not a conventional camera solution. The system combines optical inspection, laser-based measurement and structured documentation to create a robust digital basis for condition assessment, planning, operation and rehabilitation.

Automated capture creates reproducible datasets instead of isolated snapshots. The value lies not in a single image, but in the relationship between visible condition and measured geometry.

CAPTURE

Capture.

Five high-resolution cameras document the visible structure surfaces during the automated scan.

MEASURE

Measure.

Twelve line lasers capture the manhole geometry. Four additional lasers record the invert area.

POSITION

Position.

With supplementary surveying equipment, the point cloud can be tied into plan and elevation control.

DOCUMENT

Document.

K3000 combines operation, evaluation and documentation and supports downstream processing of the results.

PARTICULARLY SUITABLE

When geometry is part of the task.

  • optical condition documentation plus surveying
  • capture of manhole wall and invert
  • dense point cloud as a planning basis
  • hard-to-reach or non-drivable structures
  • as-built documentation, maintenance and rehabilitation planning
  • spatial referencing with supplementary surveying equipment
CLEARLY DELIMITED

When a quick visual overview is sufficient.

  • Pure visual inspection without a need for geometric data may be more economical with simpler methods.
  • For large numbers of directly accessible manholes, fixed vehicle-based systems can achieve higher daily throughput.
  • Set-up, alignment and relocation are deliberately part of CleverScan’s mobile operating concept.
